Privacy Policy

Effective August 4, 2026

Modern Websites ("we," "us," or "our") builds and manages websites for contractors on a monthly subscription. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website, fill out a form, or book a call with us, how we use that information, and the choices you have.

We keep this simple on purpose. We collect only what we need to respond to you and run our business, we never sell your information, and you can contact us at any time with questions about your data.

Information We Collect

We collect information in a few ways:

  • Forms you submit. When you fill out our contact or quote form, we collect your name, business name, trade, phone number, email address, and, if you choose to provide it, your current website URL.
  • Call scheduling. When you book a call through our embedded Cal.com scheduler, Cal.com collects the name, email address, and scheduling details you enter, and shares them with us so we can hold the call.
  • Analytics and advertising cookies. We use Google Analytics 4 and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, which collect information about how you use our site — pages viewed, time on page, approximate location based on IP address, device and browser type, and how you found us. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies.
  • Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure automatically records basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, referring pages, and timestamps. We use this for security and troubleshooting.

We do not collect payment card details through our marketing website. If you become a client, billing is handled through the payment process we set up with you directly.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to your inquiries and quote requests.
  • Schedule and hold calls you book with us.
  • Provide, manage, and support our website services if you become a client.
  • Send you emails related to your inquiry or your service. Transactional and notification emails are delivered through Resend, our email delivery provider.
  • Understand how visitors use our site so we can improve it.
  • Measure the effectiveness of our advertising, including through Google Analytics and Meta's advertising tools.

We do not use your information for purposes unrelated to running Modern Websites, and we do not send unrelated third-party marketing.

Third-Party Service Providers

We rely on a small number of established service providers to run our website and business. Each receives only the information needed to perform its function:

  • Vercel — hosts our website and serves its pages, which involves processing standard server log data.
  • Cal.com — powers our embedded call scheduler and processes the booking details you enter.
  • Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) — provides website usage analytics via cookies.
  • Meta Platforms (Meta Pixel) — provides advertising measurement and helps us reach relevant audiences with our ads.
  • Resend — delivers emails we send, such as form confirmations and replies to your inquiry.
  • Google Workspace (Google LLC) — we use Google Workspace for our business email, so emails you send us are processed by Google. If you become a client, we also help set up Google Workspace email on your own domain; that subscription is between you and Google and is billed by Google directly.

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data. We choose providers that are widely used and maintain their own security and privacy programs, but we encourage you to review their policies if you want the details.

Cookies and How to Opt Out

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Our site uses them for analytics (Google Analytics 4) and advertising measurement (Meta Pixel). You have several ways to limit or block them:

  • Browser settings. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, either entirely or for specific sites. Check your browser's privacy or settings menu.
  • Google Analytics opt-out. Google offers a browser add-on that prevents your data from being used by Google Analytics, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • Google ad settings. You can control how Google personalizes ads to you through the Ad Settings page in your Google account.
  • Meta ad preferences. If you have a Facebook or Instagram account, you can adjust how Meta uses data from websites for ads in the Ad Preferences section of your account settings.

Blocking cookies will not prevent you from using our site — the contact form and scheduler will still work.

How We Share Information

We never sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

We share information only: (1) with the service providers listed above, solely so they can perform services for us; (2) if required by law, such as in response to a valid legal request; (3) to protect the rights, safety, or property of Modern Websites, our clients, or others; or (4) in connection with a sale or transfer of our business, in which case the new owner would be bound by commitments consistent with this policy.

Data Retention

We keep form submissions and inquiry emails for as long as we reasonably need them to respond to you, provide services, and maintain business records — generally while there is an active or prospective relationship, plus a reasonable period afterward for recordkeeping.

Analytics data is retained according to the settings of Google Analytics and Meta, and server logs are retained by our hosting provider for a limited period. If you would like us to delete information we hold about you, email us using the contact details below and we will honor the request unless we are required to keep the information for legal or accounting reasons.

Children's Privacy

Our website and services are for businesses and are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your State Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA, as amended by the CPRA) and similar laws in other states may give you specific rights over your personal information, including the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have collected about you and request a copy of it.
  • Request that we delete personal information we hold about you.
  • Request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.

Because we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising beyond standard advertising measurement tools, there is nothing to opt out of on that front — but if you want us to stop using analytics or advertising cookies with respect to your visits, the opt-out tools in the Cookies section above are the most direct way.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address in the Contact section below. We will verify your request using the information you provide (typically by confirming the email address associated with your records) and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. Our site is served over HTTPS, form submissions are transmitted encrypted, and access to inquiry data is limited to the people who need it to respond to you. Our service providers maintain their own security programs.

That said, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.

Links to Other Websites

Our site may link to other websites, including client sites we have built and the websites of our service providers. This policy applies only to Modern Websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites, so review their policies when you visit them.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our practices or the law change. When we do, we will post the updated policy on this page and change the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we will make reasonable efforts to draw attention to it. Your continued use of the site after an update means the updated policy applies.
